What is a Charitable Remainder Trust?

A Charitable Remainder Trust, or “CRT”, is a trust you set up typically during life to which you transfer an asset or assets. You retain the right to receive back from the trust a payout equal to a set percentage of the trust value or set dollar amount each year. You typically will receive the percentage or amount each year for the rest of your life.
